Responsibilities

As an intern, you will gain exposure in retail sales, agronomy, operations, and grain. This internship is an excellent point of entry for development into other career opportunities.

Agronomy

  • Learn to identify weeds, crop diseases, growth stages, plant populations, insect problems, nutrient deficiencies, and soil problems.
  • Work with location Agronomy and Sales teams to plan and execute customer events.
  • Assist in setting up customer demonstration trials.
  • Receive guidance and training from an Agronomist and meet weekly with location team members to discuss issues and findings.


Operations / Grain

  • Learn about grain elevator operations including loading/unloading rail cars, moving grain, maintenance, and daily duties.


Retail Sales

  • Assist with crop input retail activities such as receiving and shipping merchandise.
  • Become familiar with fertilizers and pesticides provided to customers.
  • Interns will be trained on products to provide recommendations and solutions to meet customer needs.


Resources Provided:

  • Vehicle, cell phone, and other required technology.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or diploma from an accredited program, graduating between December 2026 and August 2028.
  • Able to complete a 16-week internship May – August 2026.
  • Possess a valid Canadian driver’s licence in good standing.
  • Ability to work in environmental conditions with potential exposure to sun, wind, rain, pollen, dust, and insects.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; comfortable working independently.
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agricultural Business, Agronomy, Plant Science, or Soil Science.
  • Previous agriculture, sales, and/or scouting experience.
  • Geographically flexible and willing to relocate.

Internship Details

  • Paid internships lasting at least 16 weeks.
  • Interns are paid hourly for time worked.
  • Housing assistance and relocation reimbursement are offered to those who qualify (based on mileage).
  • Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work.
  • Outstanding performance may lead to offers for future internship, co-op, or full-time positions.
