This is a dynamic, hands-on position where no two days are the same. You’ll be at the heart of our fuel supply chain— managing suppliers, coordinating HGV deliveries to fuel stations primarily in the UK, but also Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, while also ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards.

The position requires strong organisational skills to balance delivery scheduling with proactive fleet management, ensuring vehicle compliance, availability, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Planning and Coordination

  • Plan, control, and monitor all HGV deliveries and transport activities to fuel stations.
  • Consider delivery deadlines, legal driver hours, route optimisation, and priority management.
  • Work with international teams during the planning process.

Communication

  • Maintain continuous communication with transport companies, workshops, and suppliers.
  • Take swift, solution-oriented action to address delivery delays, breakdowns, or urgent maintenance needs.
  • Fluent German for both spoken and written communication and IT systems is essential.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor LNG stock levels at filling stations.
  • Make proactive changes to delivery schedules to prevent shortages and ensure continuous supply security.

Fleet Repair & Maintenance

  • Manage full repair and maintenance schedules for trucks and trailers.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance, MOT scheduling, and unplanned repairs.
  • Liaise with maintenance providers to minimise downtime and ensure compliance.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, maintenance logs, and communications.
  • Prepare reports, performance metrics, and maintenance analyses.


Analysis

  • Analyse delivery and fleet performance data.
  • Identify trends to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.


Quality, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations across the UK, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium.
  • Support hazardous goods legislation adherence, environmental policies, fleet safety standards, audit processes, and emergency response planning.


Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Sales, Finance, and Workshop teams.
  • Integrate new systems or processes to optimise performance.


Specific Challenges

  • Operate flexibly and under pressure.
  • Balance strict delivery schedules with driver and vehicle safety.
  • Manage hazardous goods transportation and respond quickly to unexpected disruptions such as breakdowns or severe weather.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of LNG properties (temperature, pressure, safety requirements) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of LNG-specific equipment (tank couplings, sensors) is an advantage.
  • Experience with telematics systems and real-time tracking is an advantage.

Job requirements

Education and Qualifications

  • Completed qualification in transport, logistics, or fleet management (e.g., Transport Manager CPC or equivalent).
  • Alternatively, extensive experience in HGV dispatching and fleet maintenance coordination.

Professional Skills

  • Strong understanding of UK HGV logistics operations (knowledge of European operations is an advantage).
  • Experience in hazardous goods transport, fleet maintenance scheduling, and compliance.
  • Proficient with logistics dispatch systems, fleet management software, and MS Office.
  • Analytical skills to improve fleet efficiency and reduce downtime.
